Detroit Defeats James Madison 71-67
HARRISONBURG, Va. (AP) — Carlton Brundidge scored 22 points, Juwan Howard, Jr. had 15 and Detroit held on to defeat James Madison 71-67 Tuesday night.
Detroit (2-2) led by as much as five until Howard's 3-pointer gave the Titans a 67-60 lead with 3:13 remaining. Yet James Madison (2-3) could not take advantage of 0 for 3 shooting, three missed field goals and a turnover from the Titans in the final three minutes. JMU missed ten free throws in the second half.
Brundidge was 6 of 9 from the floor. He made four 3-pointers, including three in a row.
Detroit had 2 blocked shots despite 23 blocks through its first three games.
James Madison had their last lead when Charles Cooke scored on a dunk to make it 30-28 with 1:57 remaining in the first half. Cooke scored 17 points to lead four Duke players in double figures.
