Traffic Alert: Weekend Road Work

DETROIT (WWJ) - Know before you go! It's the weekend again which means road work crews will be out in full force across metro Detroit.

The following projects were announced by MDOT. As always, some of this work may be postponed due to weather.

I-696:

In Macomb County, the eastbound I-696 ramp to eastbound I-94 will have a single lane closure, from 5 a.m. Saturday to 9 p.m. Sunday, for reconstruction.

I-75:

In Detroit, southbound I-75 from 7 mile to I-94 will have a single lane closed, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday. Northbound I-75 from I-94 to 7 mile will have a single lane closed from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.

I-94:

In Macomb County, construction at I-94 and the 12 mile area will occur from 5 a.m. Saturday to 9 p.m. Sunday. This includes:

  • the east and westbound I-94 ramps will be closed to 12 Mile Road
  • the 12 Mile Road ramps to east and westbound I-94 will close intermittently
  • the 11 Mile Road ramp to eastbound I-94 will close intermittently

I-96:

In Wayne County, eastbound I-96 ramp to Newburgh Road is closed from 10 a.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for construction.

In Oakland County, westbound I-96 exit to Milford road will have a ramp closure from 12 p.m. Saturday until 3 p.m. Saturday for construction.

M-53:

In Macomb County, southbound M-53 at Clinton River Road will have single lane closures, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, for bridge work.

M-3 (Gratiot Avenue):

The southbound M-3 (Gratiot Avenue) connector ramp to westbound I-94 will have intermittent closures, from 5 a.m. Saturday to 9 p.m. Sunday, for reconstruction.

M-29:

In St. Clair County, southbound M-29 from Vine Street to Clinton Avenue will have two lanes closed from 5-8 p.m. for holiday parade.

Beginning next week:

M-1 (Woodward):

In Oakland County, east and westbound M-1 (Woodward Avenue) between Adams Avenue and Grand Boulevard will have moving double-lane closures from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday for utility work.
