Volunteers Pack Thanksgiving Meals For Less Fortunate

PONTIAC (WWJ) - It's that time of year again, when non-profit organizations get together to lend a helping hand to families in need this holiday season.

WWJ's Marie Osborne was at All Saints' Episcopal Church in Pontiac on Saturday where dozens of volunteers with the Lighthouse of Oakland County packed Thanksgiving meals for families in need.

Lighthouse organizers say most of the recipient families are working, but there's just not enough room in their budgets to put together a traditional Thanksgiving dinner.

In total, Lighthouse expects to share the Thanksgiving packages with about 1,100 families in Metro Detroit, including more than 160 seniors.
