Detroit Firefighter's Good Intentions Bring Further Rewards

DETROIT (WWJ) - A very nice day for Engine 30 of the Detroit Fire Department.

Firefighter Martin Rucker received his $10,000 prize for winning Comerica Bank's Home of the Brave National Anthem singing contest.

Rucker decided part of the money would go toward new furnishings for the fire-house break-room.

But, Comerica Foundation President Janice Tessier had more good news in store for Rucker and the crew.

"La-z-boy was so gracious and decided to give this well-deserved fire house some furniture," said Tessier.

"Oh, my God. I am floored. This is incredible," said Rucker.

"Oh, my God. Yes. Yes. Yes. We removed those items from the budget," said Rucker.

Now, with the new leather sofa, loveseat, recliner and coffee tables the crew at Engine 30 can focus on other upgrades like a snow-blower.
