Ford To Unveil New Float For Thanksgiving Parade

DEARBORN, Mich. (AP) — Ford Motor Co. Executive Chairman Bill Ford Jr. plans to unveil the automaker’s float a few days before it hits the road for Detroit’s Thanksgiving Day parade.

Ford will reveal the float to hundreds of the company’s employees Monday at its global headquarters in the Detroit suburb of Dearborn.

The company says the 100-foot-long float includes a giant likeness of Henry Ford — Bill Ford’s great-grandfather. The company founder sits in front of a birthday cake marking the 150th anniversary of his birth.

The float also features a giant globe and a Ford Focus in recognition of the company’s global reach.

The event known as America’s Thanksgiving Parade steps off at 8:45 a.m. Thursday at Woodward Avenue and Kirby and ends at Woodward and Congress downtown.
