Police: Woman Takes Off In Stolen Ambulance
HASTINGS (WWJ/AP) - Authorities in western Michigan say a woman swiped an ambulance while its crew was picking up a patient.
Barry County Sheriff's Sgt. Nick Seifert said deputies stopped the LifeCare ambulance around 1:43 a.m. Wednesday after it was stolen from Battle Creek Health Systems Hospital.
The 53-year-old woman told officers she took the ambulance because she wanted to "get home to Southfield." She was arrested and turned over to Battle Creek police, according to Mlive.com.
Seifert said the woman, whose identity was not released, did not appear to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of her arrest.
