Another Fire At Detroit's Heidelberg Project

Detroit (WWJ)- It's happened again.  Fire has destroyed another vacant house which is part of the Heidelberg Project.

The Detroit Fire Department crews were called to the War House on Elba Street near Mt. Elliott around 5:15  a.m.

A statement from the Heidelberg Project said a man in dark clothing was spotted by KP Protective Services running from the site.  Because the area is so dark, and the man was wearing dark clothing, it was difficult to catch him in the act.

The project's Facebook page said "we are again thankful for the DFD, and thankful that the reach of this morning's blaze wasn't any greater... This fire was MUCH too close to our neighbors. We're stepping up patrols tonight."

No injuries were reported.

Detroit arson investigators were in the preliminary stages of their investigation Thursday morning.

The early morning fire was the third at the Heidelberg Project this month.

Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms agents have been involved in the investigation of last week's fire at the Penny House.

On Nov. 12, fire completely ravaged the House of Soul, which was covered in hundreds of old vinyl albums.

In May, the Obstruction of Justice House was heavily damaged by fire, leaving behind just a pile of rubble.  In early October, fire consumed what remained of the OJ House. Two other small fires were also reported earlier in October, which caused smoke damage to the Penny House and the Numbers House.
