3 Arrested In Macomb Township Bank Robbery

MACOMB TOWNSHIPS (WWJ) – Three suspects have been arrested bold armed robbery at a Macomb Township bank branch Monday morning.

Lieutenant John Michalke, of the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office, says it happened at 9:40 a.m. at the Chase bank on Hall Road near Heydenreich.

“An individual walked into the bank, jumped over the counter, produced a note demanding cash — $20,000 in cash,”  Michalke told WWJ’s Beth Fisher. “He displayed a silver semi-automatic handgun. The bank personnel did in fact turn over an undisclosed amount of cash.”

Michalke said a second person, waiting outside the bank, joined the robber as he sprinted across Hall Road.

Both suspects were seen by witnesses entering The Harbors Apartments, where they were arrested Monday afternoon

Detectives recovered money, a handgun, and the clothing worn by the suspect.

It was not immediately clear what role the third suspect may have played in the robbery. No names have been released.

The FBI is assisting with the case.

Anyone with information about this crime is asked to contact the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office Detective Bureau at 586-307-9358.
