Did You Know? 30 Cool Things About Detroit
DETROIT (WWJ) - A national realty company has compiled a list of 30 things you should know before moving to Detroit.
Movoto Realty came up with the list which covers events, famous and infamous places, facts and little known tidbits about the Motor City.
"The thirty things is a standard piece at Movoto - we come up with thirty reasons that people should move to just about any major city in the country - and the way we do it is just by looking for interesting events, facts, tidbits that are generally unknown," said Ian Douglas of Movoto Realty in Southfield.
"There are a lot of great restaurants, sporting events and other sorts of events like the Electronic Music Festival ... the Dream Cruise and the Boat Race," said Douglas. "A lot of Detroiters don't appreciate those events."
Some of the tidbits listed about Detroit: the Detroit People Mover only travels in the downtown area, the abandoned train station while unsightly is very popular with film crews, and that Cobo Center is where "hardcore wrestling" really started because of iconic wrestlers like the Sheik and Bruiser Brody who grew up in Detroit.
