Senior Care Solutions Launches Website To Showcase Resources For Seniors, Post Trauma Patients

DEARBORN (WWJ) -- Figuring out how to navigate resources available for senior citizens and post trauma patients can be a real challenge for family members and caregivers. Senior Care Solutions by Oakwood recently launched the website, www.OakwoodSeniorSolutions.org. The site showcases its services and other help available in southeastern Michigan as well.

"With families coming together and visiting during the holidays, this is a good time to talk about and learn what support is offered for loved ones who need assistance," said Marcia Filek, geriatric care manager for Senior Care Solutions by Oakwood. She also has a Licensed Bachelors in Social Work, which is key in understanding how to properly guide clients to appropriate care.

Filek and her team meet one-on-one with the loved one and family members to conduct a comprehensive care assessment and develop a customized plan that provides compassionate care and helps assure each person's health and safety -- whether at home or in another living environment.

Said Dale Greenwood, a Connecticut resident, of his parents: "My parents were very determined to stay in their own home in Dearborn where they lived for 55 years." He said staff at Senior Care Solutions made a thorough three-hour assessment of their needs and gave him a very detailed report. "As a result, their house was modified to be senior friendly ... They have received unbelievable care and are staying healthy and well because of Senior Care Solutions," Greenwood said.

The new website provides user-friendly tools such as a downloadable Care Assessment form along with detailed information about care coordination, personal care services, answers to frequently asked questions, financial considerations, and more.

"We also work with physicians, insurance companies, case managers and caregivers for people of all ages who have experienced trauma caused by an accident, injury or medical condition," Filek said.

Located in Allen Park, Senior Care Solutions provides services throughout the five-county areas of Macomb, Monroe, Oakland, Washtenaw and Wayne. Personal care services are also available within a 30 mile radius of Detroit.
