New 'Dave & Busters' Set To Open In Livonia

LIVONIA (WWJ) - It's a holiday gift for gamers. Dave and Busters will open its second metro Detroit location on Monday, Dec. 16.

The restaurant and video game emporium,  located on Victor Parkway near 7 Mile Road and I-275 in Livonia, will be the chain's sixty-sixth store in the U.S.

"Livonia's a very up and coming market," Dave and Buster's general manager Dave Rogan told WWJ's Pat Sweeting. "Where we're at is centrally located between Northville, Plymouth, Novi, Farmington Hills — great ease of traffic flow in and out of the building."

"Plus," he said, "the community in this area has just absolutely been second to none. I moved here six weeks ago, and I've been welcomed with open arms."

According to the company, new location generated 290 jobs in the Livonia area.

What can patrons expect to find?

Rogan said the bar stands out, with its 16 70-inch TVs.

"It's big, it's bold, it's right in your face as soon as you walk in," he said. "If you turn to your left when you walk in you'll see our million-dollar midway; turn to the right you'll see our sports lounge where we have 350-inch projector TVs, as well as more 70-inch TVs."

The midway features 170 single and multi-player games in an almost casino-like atmosphere.

Rogan said that among the most popular games is a new incarnation of a classic.

"We've got Pacman Battle Royale," Rogan said, "It's a four-player ... you can actually eat the other Pacman players that you're playing against.  And we've got Pacman Smash; that's Pacman air hockey."

"It's very fun. It's possibly my favorite game right now," he said.

The location also offers conference and banquet space.
