Stocky Suspects Sought In Theft Of Packages On Porch

INDEPENDENCE TOWNSHIP (WWJ) - Oakland County authorities are looking to identify two "heavy-set" men who swiped some holiday packages off a porch in Independence Township.

Deputies with the Oakland County Sheriff's Office responded, Tuesday afternoon, to a call from a resident on the 4500 block of Ava about the theft.

The homeowner told officers that packages has been delivered to his home, but when he went to get them, they were gone.

The home is equipped with a surveillance camera which officials say clearly shows the responsible parties and their vehicle.

The suspect who grabbed the packages is described as a 20 to 30-year-old heavy-set white male. He was wearing an orange "Cedar Point" sweatshirt with black sweat pants and a black knit cap.

The second suspect — who officials have identified as the driver — is  a white male, also heavy-set, with dark hair, wearing a Carhartt style jacket.

The pair fled the scene in an early 2000's black Pontiac Grand Prix.

The contents and value of the package has not been disclosed as an investigation continues.

A $1,000 reward is being offered for the tip leading to an arrest and conviction in this case.

Anyone with information on the identity of the suspects is asked to call the Sheriff's Office at 248-858-4911 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
