8 Mile Road Reopens After Gas Leak

NORTHVILLE TWP. (WWJ) – Officials were forced to close 8 Mile Road in Northville Township after a gas leak was discovered in a storm drain.

Crews were focused on an area of 8 Mile Road near Meadowbrook Road, just west of I-275. The road was closed for nearly two hours, but has since reopened.

A representative with Consumers Energy said workers were quickly able to repair the leak and air out the drain without any injuries.

It wasn’t immediately clear what caused the gas leak, which was described as minor.
