MACOMB COUNTY (WWJ) – Is the executive of Macomb County eyeing a run for governor?
There are some rumors swirling that Macomb County Executive Mark Hackel has an interest in becoming Michigan governor — but Hackel tells WWJ that a run in 2014 is not on the horizon – his current plan is to rerun as County Executive.
But Hackel is not ruling out a run in the future.
So what does he want to see from the next Michigan governor?
“It’s got to be based upon who’s got a plan, there is a job description for the governor, the county executive for every elected official … are they going to adhere to that responsibility and what are they going to do if they win that election – with the direction? So, for me any candidate that wants my support or vote, more importantly, has to have a plan for what they want to do,” said Hackel.
Hackel says his focus right now is the county and continuing to move it forward.
