Forecasters: White Christmas Likely For Metro Detroit

DETROIT (WWJ) - If you were dreaming of a white Christmas, you just might get your wish.

Forecasters say an inch or two of snow will fall Tuesday morning through Wednesday evening, turning metro Detroit into a winter wonderland.

The National Weather Service said snow showers will increase in intensity Tuesday morning, some which could reduce visibilities below two miles at times. Up to half-inch of accumulation is possible in some of the heavier snow showers, which may lead to slick spots on area roads.

Snow will continue to fall throughout Christmas Day, blanketing the area with up to two inches of accumulation.

Here's the local forecast from the CBS Detroit weather team:

Tuesday -- A couple of morning snow showers; otherwise, breezy and colder with clouds breaking. Hi 20.
Tuesday Night -- Cold with increasing amounts of clouds. Lo 12.

Wednesday -- Breezy and chilly with a little snow at times, accumulating a coating to an inch. Hi 26.
Wednesday Night -- Cloudy and cold with occasional snow and flurries, mainly early; snowfall total 1-2 inches. Lo 21.
