Police: Man Attacks Pregnant Girlfriend With Drill
BAY CITY, Mich. (AP) - Michigan authorities have filed felony assault charges against a man they say attacked his pregnant girlfriend with a power drill.
Bay City police say that 23-year-old Tyresha Humphrey told them that Jermaine Perkins slapped and kicked her, punched her in the stomach and cut her arm with a Black & Decker cordless drill Dec. 15.
MLive.com says the 23-year-old Perkins is charged with assault with a dangerous weapon and domestic violence. He's free on bond awaiting a probable cause hearing Monday.
The Associated Press left a phone message for defense lawyer Bruce Mannikko seeking comment Thursday.
Police say Humphrey was five months pregnant by a previous boyfriend. She says Perkins wanted her to miscarry.
Police say Perkins told them Humphrey attacked him with the drill, and he defended himself.
