Lions Call Up Veldman To Replace Injured Dickerson

ALLEN PARK, Mich. (AP) — Former North Dakota State tight end Matt Veldman has been called up by Detroit.

The Becker, Minn., native will make his NFL debut Sunday at the Metrodome when the Vikings host the Lions in the last regular season game.

Detroit signed Veldman from their practice squad Thursday to replace Dorin Dickerson.

Dickerson was placed on injured reserve four days after he didn't immediately tell the team's medical staff he had a concussion during the game against the New York Giants.
