Michigan Snowmobiler Missing After Crash

LUDINGTON, Mich. (AP) - Authorities say a snowmobiler is missing after going over an embankment and falling about 100 feet into a western Michigan river.

The Ludington Daily News reports Mason County deputies were dispatched about 7:20 p.m. Sunday after a report of a snowmobiler crashing east of Ludington in the Pere Marquette River. The snowmobile was found in the river about 9 p.m.
The person on the snowmobile was identified as a Ludington man in his 30s. A person on a second snowmobile had been riding with him at the time.

Sheriff Kim Cole says divers weren't immediately sent into the river, because authorities determined it was too dangerous. Crews are expected to return to the area about 80 miles northwest of Grand Rapids to reassess the situation on Monday.
