Metro Detroit Schools Closing For 3rd Day In A Row — Check The List

DETROIT (WWJ) - Consider it an extended holiday break.

After hundreds of Metro Detroit schools were closed due to snow on Monday and extreme cold on Tuesday, some districts are already calling off classes for a third day in a row.

Multiple districts will be closed Wednesday in Wayne County, including the Detroit Public Schools, Allen Park, Gibraltar, Grosse Ile, Hamtramck, River Rouge. Romulus, and Southgate. (See more here).

In Livingston County, all public schools will be closed.

Several districts already called off for Wednesday in St. Clair County, including East China, Marysville, Memphis and Port Huron Schools.

In Oakland County, Oxford Schools will be closed; and in Macomb, Armada Area Schools will be closed.

Wind Chill Advisory, issued by the National Weather Service, remains in effect until 9 a.m. Wednesday for the entire Southeast Michigan area.

AccuWeather meteorologist John Feerick says — after Metro Detroit saw record lows Tuesday morning  — it will remain bitterly cold Tuesday night. He said it will still be quite cold on Wednesday, but not as harsh, with highs reaching into the mid-teens.

Wednesday Night: Partly cloudy. Low around 0F. Winds WNW at 5 to 10 mph.

Thursday: Partly cloudy skies. High around 20F. Winds ESE at 5 to 10 mph.
Thursday Night: Light snow in the evening will taper to flurries overnight. Low around 15F. Winds light and variable. Chance of snow 60%. Snow accumulations less than one inch.

Friday: Cloudy skies. High 34F. Winds S at 5 to 10 mph.
Friday Night: Showers early becoming a steady light rain late. Low 33F. Winds S at 10 to 20 mph. Chance of rain 70%.

Saturday: Periods of light rain. Fog in the morning. High around 40F. Winds SW at 10 to 20 mph. Chance of rain 90%.
Saturday Night: Clear to partly cloudy. Low near 30F. Winds WSW at 10 to 20 mph.

Sunday: Generally sunny despite a few afternoon clouds. High 38F. Winds SSW at 10 to 20 mph.
Sunday Night: Periods of rain. Low 36F. Winds SSW at 10 to 20 mph. Chance of rain 80%. Rainfall around a quarter of an inch.
