DETROIT (WWJ) – Consider it an extended holiday break.
After hundreds of Metro Detroit schools were closed due to snow on Monday and extreme cold on Tuesday, some districts are already calling off classes for a third day in a row.
Multiple districts will be closed Wednesday in Wayne County, including the Detroit Public Schools, Allen Park, Gibraltar, Grosse Ile, Hamtramck, River Rouge. Romulus, and Southgate. (See more here).
In Livingston County, all public schools will be closed.
Several districts already called off for Wednesday in St. Clair County, including East China, Marysville, Memphis and Port Huron Schools.
In Oakland County, Oxford Schools will be closed; and in Macomb, Armada Area Schools will be closed.
A Wind Chill Advisory, issued by the National Weather Service, remains in effect until 9 a.m. Wednesday for the entire Southeast Michigan area.
AccuWeather meteorologist John Feerick says — after Metro Detroit saw record lows Tuesday morning — it will remain bitterly cold Tuesday night. He said it will still be quite cold on Wednesday, but not as harsh, with highs reaching into the mid-teens.
