DETROIT (CBS NEWS) – About 1.77 million pounds of Kraft Velveeta Cheesy Skillets are being recalled because the manufacturing company did not disclose that there were potential allergens in the product.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) said on Monday that the manufacturer is recalling some Kraft shelf-stable pasta and ground beef products because they contain hydrolyzed soy protein and dried soy sauce. These ingredients have been known to cause allergies, but they weren’t clearly labeled on some of the packaging.

The item in question is Kraft Velveeta Cheesy Skillets Singles – Ultimate Cheeseburger Mac, packaged in 3.3-pound cases of six, 9-ounce microwavable containers. Truitt Brothers, Inc., of East Bernstadt, Ky., manufactured the products for Kraft.

No other Velveeta or Kraft products are affected by the recall.

The identifying case codes are 00210000432900, 00210000432910, 00210000432925, 00210000464000 and 00210000465100. They have a use by/sell by date of March 2, 2014 through Oct. 23, 2014.
The items were sold in stores between May 6, 3024 and Jan. 16, 2014 and were also sent to Kraft Food distribution centers. Around 525,000 cases of the product are affected.

FSIS said the company became aware of the problem when they realized that a label manufacturer accidentally sent labels with the wrong ingredients mixed in with the correct labels.

No one has reported an adverse reaction to the products in question. If someone feels they are having an allergic reaction, they should contact a medical professional.

Consumers can contact Kraft Foods Consumer Relations Center at 1-800-396-5512 with any questions.
