New Service To Reduce Waiting Time At Secretary of State
DETROIT (WWJ) – It’s good news for Michigan motorists who are tired of waiting in long lines at the Secretary of State office.
A new service will be available to motorists seeking service at Michigan’s 10 busiest SOS offices in coming weeks. Flint and Lansing-area SUPER!Centers are already using the new MI-TIME-Line technology. Other SOS offices that will be among the first to use MI-TIME-Line include: Clinton Township, Detroit, Livonia and Pontiac.
According to the Secretary of State’s office, offices in Southfield, Taylor and Troy will also receive the service which enables customers to place their names into a virtual que by using their smart phone, laptop, home computer or land line.
They’ll be notified as their name approaches the front of the line that it’s time to head into their local SOS office for service.
“That way you’ll know exactly how long you’ll have to wait so you won’t have to wait in line,” explained Michigan Secretary of State Ruth Johnson, who introduced the new service Wednesday during a news conference at the 2014 North American International Auto Show.
Use of the MI-TIME-Line technology allows customers to do things like run errands or pick-up the kids from school instead of waiting for an hour or more in line, Johnson said.
