Body Found In Vacant Detroit Home ID’ed As Missing Allen Park Man

DETROIT (WWJ) – Investigators say a body found in an empty Detroit home is that of an Allen Park man who has been missing since January 13.

The body of 33-year-old Sylvester Williams, Jr. was found around 9 p.m. Wednesday inside an abandoned home in the 15000 block of Log Cabin Street, near the Lodge Freeway and McNichols Road on the city’s west side. Detectives say they responded to the home after receiving a tip.

While a positive cause of death is pending, police believe Williams was beaten to death.

Williams, also known as “Deneye,” was last seen near the University of Detroit Mercy campus on Grove Street. His car, a Chevy Malibu, was later found abandoned on the west side, near Livernois and Puritan.
