4 Teens Arrested In Robbery Of EMU Student

YPSILANTI (WWJ/AP) - Four Ypsilanti Township teenagers have been arrested in a robbery and assault on an Eastern Michigan University student.

The teens -- a 15-year-old, two 16-year-olds and a 17-year-old -- are being held in the Washtenaw County Jail and are expected to be arraigned this weekend, according to the Ann Arbor News.

Police say a 19-year-old EMU student was followed Tuesday night as he walked to his car from an Ypsilanti restaurant. He was ordered at gunpoint from the vehicle and struck in the face with the weapon.

The four suspects were unable to drive away in the student's car because the street was too icy.

The student tried running away through backyards in the area, but the crooks caught up with him and made off with his wallet. The student was treated for minor injures.

Two teens were arrested Friday after police received numerous tips following the release of security camera images that captured their faces. A third suspect turned himself in Friday night while the fourth and final suspect turned himself in Saturday.
