2 Arrested After Multi-Department Police Chase

DETROIT (WWJ) - Two people were taken into custody following a wild police chase, early Wednesday evening, through Detroit.

Reporting from above the scene in Chopper 950, WWJ's Lance Howard said it began in Southfield, where police from multiple departments were spotted pursuing a large, dark vehicle in the area of Greenfield and Outer Drive.

"Now we followed this pursuit with at least a dozen Wayne County, state police and Detroit police vehicles pursuing this car ... east on Outer Drive to Woodward; Woodward southbound into the Davison area, down through the Davison into the New Center area where the vehicle turned around through several neighborhoods," Howard said.

Eventually, Howard reported, police drew guns on the vehicle in the parking lot of a gas station.

The pursuit then continued, northbound on Woodward Avenue, ending in a crash.

That's when two suspects were arrested.

No injuries have been reported.

It was not immediately clear what initially prompted the pursuit.
