Suspect Sought In Cigarette Thefts At Detroit Donuts

MADISON HEIGHTS (WWJ) – Madison Heights police are reaching out to the public to help catch the culprit in a pair of burglaries at a local convenience store.

According to police, both crimes occurred at Detroit Donuts, located at 29011 Stephenson Hwy, in the early morning hours of Wednesday, Jan. 29 and Wednesday, Feb. 5.

In both incidents, which were captured on video, the suspect pounded through the laminate glass front door, and went directly to the counter area to fill a plastic shopping bag with cigarettes before fleeing.

Only Marlboro and Newport cigarettes were stolen; nothing else was taken or even examined by the burglar.

In this week’s robbery, a suspect vehicle  — which appears to be a minivan — was also captured on security tape, entering the parking lot via eastbound 12 Mile Road.

The suspect is described as a white male of average height and build. He was wearing an over-sized dark blue nylon jacket over a gray hoodie,
and light, gloved, and baggy blue jeans. A black mask/hat completely covered his face.

Anyone who may have information about this crime is asked to call Madison Heights Police Detective Shawn Scofield at 248-837-2733.
