Go Big: 5 Bank-Breaking Dates For Valentine's Day

DETROIT (CBS Detroit) - Hey, big spender.

It's that time again, and love is in the air. You've been slacking for the last calendar year (admit it!) and Valentine's Day is right around the corner.

So you wonder how to buy time until that anniversary, birthday or Sweetest Day? Crack open those wallets and tell her money is no object.

Everyone knows the key to a woman's heart is a romantic dinner for two. Here are some places to consider "to break the bank" on your quest for love this year.

Go Big At Campus Martius Park

Consider yourself a big spender if you follow through with this Valentine's Day:

Head to Fountain Bistro at Campus Martius for a romantic dinner with a menu that features a Pan-roasted chicken glazed in a white wine-lemon sauce, Duck roasted with a Grand Marnier glaze or a Seafood risotto that includes lobster, shrimp and scallops.

After dinner, get warm in the cold while you're renting the Ice Skating Rink at Campus Martius for a few hours that includes the option for lights and music.

Then, cap the night off by paying for the park Water Fountain that features 100 water jets that shoot a 100 feet high and if cold enough the water might freeze while airborne.

Historic Getaway Up I-75

Cobblestone Manor in Auburn Hills gives couples the opportunity to go "Old School" with big bucks.

This historic mansion was built in 1840 and has 10 guest rooms. This old getaway offers modern accommodations including Free Wifi and Whirlpool hot tubs in every room. After relaxing in love all night, wake up to a candlelit, hot breakfast.

Why be cheap when your living in the past? For $349 a night, The Presidential Suite offers an all-granite bathroom with a huge garden whirlpool tub, double sinks and a mammoth shower.

Game On At Rugby Grille

There is no rough play here at Rugby Grille, located in Birmingham, as they look to provide the game plan necessary for love and romance this Valentine's Day.

Voted as one of the "Top Ten Best Restaurants in the U.S." by Zagat's Restaurant Guide, Rugby Grille invites local love birds to enjoy a decadent four course tasting menu priced at $90 per person that features a grilled short rib and octopus.

Looking to take this date to the next level, go ahead and surprise her with the platinum package with a stay at the Townsend Hotel. This romantic playbook ranging from $425-$550 a night includes a late check-out of 2 p.m. and a dining credit of $100 (5 p.m.- 2 a.m.) and valet parking and is tax inclusive.

Get Cooking in Roast at The Westin

On the corner of Washington Boulevard and State Street in Downtown Detroit, Roast features a 200-seat restaurant that has three sections: bar/lounge; main dining room; and a semi-private area.

The 8,000 square foot restaurant is located on street level of the Westin Book Cadillac Detroit Hotel and offers a menu that includes a $40 house-aged ribeye and $65 porterhouse for two.

Once your stomach is full and pockets are near empty, no need to go home. Lay your head and rest your body in the 1,500 square feet Luxury Suite. For $1,500 a day, enjoy views of the Ambassador Bridge and take advantage of the featured wet bar and Jacuzzi tub in the master bathroom.

Treat Her To A Day of Relaxation at Woodhouse

Woodhouse Spa is looking to help you take the tension out of Valentines Day this year.

For a mere $455, your mate can enjoy everything this downtown Detroit day getaway has to offer. Your day begins with your choice of a Rest, Renew or Detox Bath Cure to enliven the senses. Next, you can indulge in ultimate relaxation with the Signature Four-Handed Massage, followed with a rejuvenating and nourishing Woodhouse Signature Minkyti Facial.

Then, guests can enjoy a relaxing spa cuisine and finish the 5 hour and 15 minute experience with The Woodhouse Signature Manicure and Pedicure.
