Deadly Fire Takes Life Of 89-Year-Old Southfield Man

SOUTHFIELD (WWJ) – An 89-year-old Southfield man died in a house fire early Saturday morning.

The Southfield Fire Department says the fire occurred on Onyx street after midnight and firefighters found the man, Theodore Hunter,  in the home’s living room after they put out the fire.

He was transported to Providence Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

A battalion chief tells WWJ that the fire started in the kitchen, but a cause has not been determined.
