Appling Could Miss Couple Weeks For No. 9 Spartans

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Keith Appling could miss a couple weeks for No. 9 Michigan State because of a right wrist injury.

Coach Tom Izzo said he wasn't exactly sure of the timeline for Appling's recovery following a 60-58 loss Sunday to Wisconsin, but that he had "a feeling" Appling might miss a couple weeks. The senior sat out a second straight game.

Izzo said there was no break or stress fracture, but that the guard couldn't pass the ball or move his hand. Izzo said as of Sunday, he wasn't "even going to think" about using Appling this week.

The Spartans host Northwestern on Thursday and Nebraska on Feb. 16.

Appling averages 15 points and 4.9 assists per game. He joins Branden Dawsen as the latest Spartans to be sidelined in an injury-filled year.
