Metro Detroit Teen Club Shuts Down After Shooting [VIDEO]

CANTON TWP. (WWJ) - A popular hangout for teenagers has been shut down and its owner facing charges after a 16-year-old was injured in a shooting.

Police say the After Dark Teen Club on Lilley Road, just south of Joy Road in Canton Township, was shut down as part of their investigation into an incident that happened outside the club early Sunday morning.

According to police, the 16-year-old victim was involved in an altercation with a group of males in the club's parking lot just after midnight. During the argument, police say one of the males in the opposing group pulled out a gun and shot the victim in the thigh before fleeing the scene. The victim, a Westland resident, was rushed to the hospital, and is expected to fully recover.

The shooting took place as the club was hosting a "Blackout Twerk Party" for teens 13- to 19-years-old.

The club's operator, Freddy Hussein, is facing a series of misdemeanor charges and civil infractions in the case. According to reports, the charges are mainly related to the illegal operation of the club. Hussein told reporters he's sorry about the incident and will cooperate with investigators in any way he can.

Police are currently trying to identify the suspects who were caught on nearby surveillance cameras, which recorded the incident.

A $1,000 reward is being offered for any information that leads to an arrest. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Canton Police Department at 734-394-5400.
