DETROIT (WWJ) – Police are looking for a hit-and-run driver who fatally struck a man in midtown Detroit.

The incident happened early Friday morning on Woodward near Mack Avenue, in between I-75 and the Lodge Freeway.

According to police, a man was attempting to cross the road when he was hit by a car that fled the scene after the crash. The man, believed to be in his late 50s, was taken to the hospital where he was declared dead.

Police say a witness told them the suspect’s vehicle was blue, but that’s the only description they have at this time.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Detroit police at 313-267-4600, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
