Get A Jump On Summer During The Detroit Boat Show At Cobo Center

DETROIT (WWJ) - Ready for warm weather? If the idea of spending your summers on the water helps you deal with Michigan winters, then it may be time to head to the Detroit Boat Show.

Boat Show manager Nicki Polan says they have 40 new boat model introductions at the show and boats are at all price points.

You start seeing people say '60 days til boat launch.' It's kind of that mid-way point where we know we're, we're heading toward warmer weather," said Polan.

Polan says the show, which is at the Cobo Center, is larger than previous years.

"We're very excited for the show this year because we're larger yet again and officially twice the size we were in 2012, so we're very happy to be growing," she said. "At 300,000 square feet, we've got nearly a thousand boats here of all types and sizes and just all kinds of fun things for people to do."

Donna Moore and her son can't wait for boating season. "We sure are. He's ready to take his wave runner out on the snow, so we're ready."

"Never been more ready...like the minute it's April and we can put it in..we probably will. I don't care if I still have to have a winter coat on," laughed Ellen Hagerman of Keego Harbor.

Boat dealers can do up to 50 percent of their sales at the show and through the leads they get there.
