Michigan Senate Says 'Yes' To American Made U.S. Flags

DETROIT (WWJ/AP) - Buy American. That's the bottom line of a bill approved by the Michigan Senate Tuesday, restricting local governments from buying any American Flags that are not made in the U.S.

The bill specifically says local governments have to buy American-made US flags, if they're competitively priced and are at least of comparable quality to flags made elsewhere.

Governments that violate the law could be fined $500 under the measure.

The bill now goes to the Governor, who is expected to sign it into law.

Flag Day is June 14.
