Red Wings Recall Jurco, Sheahan, Fournier From Grand Rapids

DETROIT – The Detroit Red Wings on Saturday recalled forwards Tomas Jurco and Riley Sheahan and defenseman Gleason Fournier from the AHL's Grand Rapids Griffins.

Jurco, 21, returns to Detroit after representing Slovakia in the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia. The Kosice, Slovakia, native logged one goal and two penalty minutes in four Olympic contests. Jurco has split his second professional season between Detroit and Grand Rapids, recording seven points (3-4-7) in 19 games with the Red Wings and 32 points (13-19-32) in 33 games with the Griffins. In his rookie season with the team, Jurco recorded 28 points (14-14-28) in 74 regular-season games and 14 points (8-6-14) during the team's Calder Cup championship run.

Sheahan, 22, has tallied 11 points (3-8-11) in 18 games with the Red Wings this season, including his first NHL goal on Jan. 11 at Los Angeles. The second-year pro has also picked up 18 points (8-10-18) in 31 games with Grand Rapids. A native of St. Catharines, Ontario, Sheahan has recorded 56 points (25-31-56) in 109 career games with the Griffins. Prior to turning pro, he registered 64 points (20-44-64) in 114 games with the Notre Dame Fighting Irish over three seasons (2009-12).

Fournier, 22, has appeared in 11 games with the Griffins, recording no points and a plus-three rating. The native of Rimouski, Quebec, has played 54 games with Grand Rapids since 2011-12, notching 10 points (2-8-10) and 37 penalty minutes. He has also skated in 71 games with the ECHL's Toledo Walleye, posting 19 points (3-16-19) and 44 penalty minutes. Originally drafted by Detroit in the third round (90th overall) of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, the defenseman recorded 133 points (31-102-133) in 237 games with the QMJHL's Rimouski Oceanic from 2007-11.
