Tips Sought In 'Horrific' Fatal Double Hit-And-Run

DETROIT (WWJ) - Investigators say a woman was hit by, not just one, but two vehicles that didn't bother to stop at the scene.

Calling it a "horrific incident," Detroit police are looking for help to solve a hit and run that occurred on the city's west side on Thursday, Feb. 20, at around 6:30 p.m.

Police say the victim — a woman in her 60s —  was walking down Puritan Avenue, near Asbury Park, when she was struck by a car believed to be a dark-colored, 2002 or 2003 Chevy Monte Carlo. That vehicle sped away.

The victim was then struck a second time by a white conversion van. That driver also fled the scene.

Images of both vehicles were caught on security camera. As of Tuesday, there had been no arrests in the case.

Anyone who recognizes the vehicles or has any information about this incident are asked to call Detroit police at 313-596-2260.

The victim's name has not been released.
