CBS DETROIT – One of the most revered coaches in all college basketball, Michigan State’s Tom Izzo might soon add another item to his resume.
Maybe it will be not a Big Ten championship, maybe not another run to the Sweet Sixteen, Elite Eight, Final Four or national championship … but he might just end the season as Ladder Salesman of the Year.
In an ad for Werner Ladder, Izzo lends credence with his NCAA experience.
“I’ve used Werner ladders to cut down the nets before,” he begins, gazing fondly at the ladder, “but I’ve never seen anything like this!”
Izzo climbs up the ladder and announces, “There’s so much room up here, I feel like dancing!”
And then he does.
The Spartans plan to be going to the Big Dance again this season, headed for their 17th straight NCAA tournament berth under Izzo. With Izzo at the helm, Michigan State has gone 11 times to the Sweet Sixteen, seven times to the Elite Eight, six times to the Final Four and twice to the national championship game – one winning it all.
