ROCHESTER HILLS (WWJ) - An Oakland County man is accused of trying to kill his 20-year-old son.

James Bell, 55, of Rochester Hills was charged with attempted murder and domestic violence after choking his son and firing five shots at him earlier this week.

According to investigators, Bell broke down his son's door at a home, on the 4800 block of Carrington Drive, and confronted him about telling the man's wife about an affair.

After breaking free during the fight, the son was able to hide at a neighbor's house. The neighbor confirmed the victim's story and Bell was arrested at his home.

He was arraigned at 52-3 District Court in Rochester Hill on Thursday. Bond was set at $25,000 cash/surety, no 10 percent allowed. Bell was ordered to wear a GPS tether if he's released.

He will be back in court for a preliminary hearing on Thursday, March 6, at 8:30 a.m.
