Cops Investigate Girl After Grandmother Turns Her In For Fleeing After Allegedly Striking Pedestrian

MACOMB TWP. (WWJ) Police are investigating the possibility of charges against a Macomb Township girl, 17, who allegedly struck and critically injured a man walking in the street.

Macomb County Lt. John Michalke said the 28-year-old victim was discovered lying in the road at 21 Mile and Garfield shortly before 1 a.m. Tuesday.

An hour-and-a-half later, police were called by another township resident who said she had information to share.

"It ended up being that her granddaughter had been involved in the crash and the grandmother was calling to tell us that," Michalke said.

The girl was arrested, breathalyzed and released. Michalke will only say that police believe alcohol was a factor in the crash. The 28-year-old pedestrian is in critical condition.
