Man Found Dead At Selfridge Air National Guard Base

HARRISON TWP. (WWJ) - Investigators don't know who he is or why he was there.

Michigan State Police are looking for help to identify a man found dead Thursday morning at Selfridge Air National Guard Base in Macomb County.

The discovery was made around 7:30 a.m. on the west side of the  base, located off of I-94 in Harrison Township.

According to police, the man — found on the ground — appeared to have jumped the fence leading from a swampy area onto the base. Police said he was not an employee of the base.

The subject is a white male, 20 to 30 years old; about 5 feet, 9 inches tall, with short, sandy blond hair. He was wearing a red sweatshirt with the Red Wings logo on the front, blue jeans, and light-colored boots.

Michigan State Police Lt. Phil Menna told WWJ the man didn't have an ID on him, and investigators were looking into missing person reports from the area.

Other circumstances surrounding the case, including the man's cause of death, are under investigation.

"At this time there is no evidence of foul play, and he appears to have been alone," Menna said. "...It may have been exposure as to the cause (of death), but we'll have to wait for the Medical Examiner's report."

Anyone who can identify this man or who has any information about this case is asked to call the Michigan State Police tip line at 1-877-616-4677.
