Mom Reunited With Young Son Who Walked Out Of House Overnight

WASHTENAW COUNTY (WWJ) - Washtenaw County officials have found the mother of a young boy who was walking around by himself in a diaper early Sunday morning.

Washtenaw County Sheriff Spokesman Derrick Jackson says the boy's mother told them that she was spending the night with her son at a friend's home in Ypsilanti Township, but when she woke up, he was gone.

"At her home, which is in Jackson County, she has the bells and whistles on her home, that if he leaves, she will know," said Jackson. "He is an autistic child and so when she was here, staying with a friend, while they were sleeping, he actually opened the door, wandered out, and that's when we actually started getting the calls."

"We're looking into the story but as it is right now, no, this doesn't look to be any charges or anything of wrong-doing at this point," he said.

Jackson says the boy is 6 or 7 years old.
