WATERFORD (WWJ) - Waterford police are searching for a man who robbed a liquor store clerk at gunpoint last Sunday.

Employees of Anthony’s Party Shop, on the 6300 block of Williams Lake Road, said an unknown man entered the store just before midnight on March 16, armed with a black semi-automatic handgun.

The man demanded money, the clerks told police, and when they questioned the suspect as to whether the gun was real, he fired shots just above the clerks’ heads.

The clerks said the robber cleaned out the cash register, but no one was hurt. Both employees ran out the stores back door and called 911.

The suspect is described as a white male, 5 feet 10 to 5 feet 11 inches tall, and 200 pounds. He was wearing a tan Carhartt jacket, black gloves, black/white camo pants, black gym shoes and a camouflage face mask.

He was last seen traveling on foot southbound on Warringham at Rowley.

Anyone with information on the individual or incident is asked to contact Waterford Police Detective Larry Novak at, 248-618-7515 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.

Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $2,500 for a tip leading to an arrest in the case. Tipsters may remain anonymous.
