Marlon Wayans Visits Detroit On His Promotional Tour For "A Haunted House 2"

DETROIT (WWJ) Funny man Marlon Wayans is spending a jam-packed few days in Detroit as part of his tour to promote his upcoming film, "A Haunted House 2," opening nationwide on April 18th.

What an opportunity it was to be able to sit down with him for a fun-filled one-on-one.

Q. Tell me, Marlon, how excited are you to be in Detroit as part of your tour for your new film?

A. I love coming to Detroit. I love the audiences in Detroit; I performed here before and this is a magical place. When they love you, they love you. When they don't, they real. You know, you gotta respect Detroit, cause they ain't gonna hold their tongue. But, I think because Detroit has gone through so much – just in terms of restructuring and the economy, and they're such hard-working people out here – that I think when you give them a good piece of laughter and something to laugh about, when they laugh, they laugh hard, so I love coming to Detroit.

Q. At the screening, people were just cracking up! It seems like it might be kind of hard to keep people laughing from start to finish, but it wasn't for you.

A. No, it was for me. But, I'm glad (laughs) … the good thing is, I'm glad that it looked like it's easy, but it's hard. It's a lot of hard work, a lot of effort, a lot of writing, a lot of stress … but you know, I hope that the audience does get this: that as hard as it was, we had a ball doing it and I don't get the effects of it until I see it play with an audience. And last night, I watched it play with the Detroit crowd, and it was like the first time I'd seen it play with an audience, and it made me feel good. Seeing people smile is why I do it.

Q. One thing you said last night is that you know it's a little bit naughty. What's the fans reactions been to it so far?

A. To be quite honest with you, I always tell people, tweet me @MarlonWayans and let me know how you feel about the movie, because I believe the audience is my critics, and I tweet - whether it's good, bad or ugly – I'm tweeting it. And, I honestly have got 100% positive reviews. A lot of people are saying they like this one better than the first one, and … it's all been positive, you know, like best movie, hilarious, you know, I laughed til my face hurt, and those kind of comments mean a lot.

Now, what did Wayans say when I asked him if there was going to be a third film, "A Haunted House 3?" He said it depends on the fans. If the fans like it and support this film, then there probably would be a number three.

If there is another film, what are the chances – I wondered aloud – of yours truly playing the role of the radio/TV reporter that I'm sure would be included in that film?

To get the answer to that question, you'll just have to click on the video on my Facebook page and watch my entire fun-filled interview! You'll also hear him tell me, exclusively, just where the Wayans brothers may kick off their upcoming comedy tour!

Enjoy, and I'll see you at the movies!
