Hockeytown Winter Festival Goalie Helmets, Pole Banners Available To Fans

DETROIT (CBS Detroit) - Wing Nuts now have the chance to buy a piece of Hockeytown history! The Detroit Red Wings are selling custom-designed goalie helmets and pole banners to commemorate the Hockeytown Winter Festival.

Fans can view and purchase the goalie helmets and banners through the Red Wings official online catalog at www.DetroitRedWings.com/catalog.

All five professional goalie helmets were hand-painted by artist David Arrigo and showcase designs relating to the Hockeytown Winter Festival. Several of the helmets also feature autographs by players who skated in the Alumni Showdown, including Chris Chelios, Dino Ciccarelli, Mark Howe, Nick Lidstrom and Ted Lindsay.

The double-sided pole banners measure 2 feet by 5 feet and feature 12 different styles, ranging from Red Wings and Maple Leafs logos to photos of players who competed in the Alumni Showdown. Available player banners include Red Wings greats Gordie Howe, Nick Lidstrom, Chris Osgood and Chris Chelios. Toronto Maple Leafs banners are also for sale, featuring Mats Sundin, Wendel Clark, Darcy Tucker and Curtis Joseph. A total of 148 banners are for sale.

The Hockeytown Winter Festival featured a two-week outdoor celebration for hockey fans of all ages and was highlighted by a star-studded Maple Leafs vs. Red Wings Alumni Showdown at Comerica Park. More than 175,000 hockey fans showed up in downtown Detroit to celebrate the game at all levels.
