Police: Skull Accidentally Discarded In Apartment Trash

WARREN (WWJ/AP) - Police say a human skull found in a dumpster outside a metro Detroit apartment complex was accidentally discarded.

Warren Police Commissioner Jere Green said a doctor legally had the skull for her profession. He said the skull was among items to be moved that were improperly disposed of by a third party.
Green told the Detroit Free Press the matter isn't criminal or an issue of foul play.

A female tenant at the Warren Manor Apartment complex on Dequindre near 8 Mile Road was searching for returnable cans when she made the grisly discovery last Wednesday.

Police also found a doctor's ID, a lab coat with a health care organization's patch and health facility paperwork along with the skull, which was partially inside a canvas bag. Green said the doctor's name on the ID was different from the doctor who was legally allowed to have the remains.

Names of those involved weren't released. An investigation is ongoing.
