DETROIT (WWJ) – A new eatery called Punch Bowl Social will be opening in Detroit. It’ll be located street level on Broadway, inside the newly constructed parking structure called ‘The Z.’
The restaurant will occupy about 24,000 square feet and boasts old-school entertainment including a bowling alley, karaoke, darts and shuffleboard – along with a classic cocktail bar.
“We want it to be an experience and almost an adventure to come downtown, and the more people that come, the better off the city will be … the jobs there will be,” said Developer Dan Gilbert. “We are absolutely looking for a mix of both out of town types of unique destinations …”
Bedrock’s new mixed-use development, ‘The Z,’ opened to the public in January. The project has first-floor retail, state-of-the-art technology and murals painted by 27 different international artists.
“The whole retail and merchandising plan is working with local retailers and restaurateurs and coupling that with a few national deals that really create great synergies and great merchandising mix,” said Vice President of Bedrock Real Estate Dan Mullen.
This concept is already popular in cities like Denver, Austin and Chicago according to Mullen.
Punch Bowl Social is expected to open in the fall and will employ about 150 people. [Take a look at the sample menu]
