Mark Schauer Chooses A Running Mate

SOUTHFIELD (WWJ) - The Democratic candidate for governor now officially has a running mate.

WWJ Lansing Bureau Chief Tim Skubick says most of the political know-it-alls in this area predicted that Democratic candidate for governor Mark Schauer would pick a female running mate... and indeed he did. And he went into Oakland County to do it.

"I am proud to introduce my running mate and Michigan's next lieutenant governor, Lisa Brown," said Schauer, during Thursday's announcement.

Lisa Brown is the Oakland County Clerk. She also served four years in the Michigan legislature. Eight women have run for lieutenant governor in Michigan and many have more experience than Lisa Brown.

When questioned on that issue by WWJ's Tim Skubick, Brown had this to say, "You know what, I'd like to look at the experience that our current governor had. He had no legislative experience and you can see how that's playing out in the legislature right now. He can't even get things done with his own party. Mark and I have experience, not just in the legislature but working in a bipartisan manner and we'll continue that."
