No Decision Yet On Trial For Dad In Baby's Death

LUDINGTON, Mich. (AP) - A judge has called a long time-out in the case of a northern Michigan man accused of killing his baby daughter.

Mason County Judge Pete Wadel is allowing defense experts to examine a letter linking Sean Phillips to Katherine Phillips' disappearance. Phillips' handwritten letter to the girl's mother says the 4 {-month-old was accidentally killed and left in a "peaceful place."

The body of Baby Kate, as she's known, hasn't been found.

After hearing a second day of testimony Friday, Wadel says the case will resume in approximately three months. He must decide whether there's probable cause to put Phillips on trial for murder.

Phillips already is serving at least 10 years in prison for unlawful imprisonment in the girl's disappearance.
