ACM Red Carpet Best and Worst

This year the ACM red carpet was dominated by '70s throwback looks, plunging necklines, nude dresses and colorful tuxes. We break down the best and the worst formal wear seen on the red carpet.
Kellie Pickler easily makes the best list this year, with an overall look evoking Marilyn Monroe. The lilac dress accents her coloring and that neckline is made just for her.

Cassadee Pope's Roman-inspired gown is a trend no one else explored on the carpet. The cut is uber flattering and her tats offer a very cool accessory, eliminating the need for jewelry.

Miranda Lambert has worn nude dresses on a lot of red carpets. Usually they are a fail. But this mermaid dress with gold accents gets a thumbs up. Perhaps her best accessory? Husband Blake Shelton.

Not faring so well on the ACMs red carpet this year were the men. First up, Darius Rucker's questionable maroon tux. The color choices are over the top, which is typically fine, but the lines of the slim-fitting suit jacket are ruined by being coupled with a thick tie the same color as his shirt. That silver tie pin is not helping matters.

And then there's Jake Owen's bright red tux, looking like an '80s thrift store prom find. Note the black piping on his pants.

Speaking of proms, Kacey Musgraves is in light blue taffeta dress is okay but utterly lacking in the kind of accessories or hair styling that would put a look like this into the good category. It's like a cupcake without the icing.

And finally, Martina McBride whose column dress is a great cut but the nude fabric isn't quite coming off. Not helping: that the hair is down like everyday. A touch of finishing in an updo would have knocked the look up a notch.
