Traffic Alert: Weekend Road Work

DETROIT (WWJ) - It's the weekend again which means it's time for construction crews to hit the roads.

The following road work projects have been announced by MDOT. As always, some of this work may be postponed due to weather.

I-75:

In Oakland County, northbound and southbound I-75, between Woodward Heights and 9 Mile roads, will have alternating single-lane closures from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday for maintenance work.

M-102 (8 Mile Road):

In Wayne County, eastbound 8 Mile Road, from M-97 (Groesbeck Avenue) to I-94, will have a moving single-lane closure from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday and Saturday for maintenance work.

Eastbound 8 Mile Road, from M-39 to Greenfield Road, will also have a moving single-lane closure from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday for maintenance.

Westbound 8 Mile Road, from Greenfield Road to M-39 (Southfield Freeway) will have a moving single- lane closure from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday for maintenance work.

M-53 (Van Dyke Avenue):

In Macomb County, northbound M-53 will have the two right lanes closed from Helen to Chicago roads, starting at 6 a.m. Saturday and ending in mid-June for the first phase of the resurfacing project. Traffic will be shifted, maintaining two through lanes in each direction with a center turn lane. Access to businesses will be maintained at all times. All work will be completed in October.

In conjunction with the double-lane closures, the following restrictions will be in place until mid-June:
• The westbound Chicago Road ramp to northbound M-53 will be closed.
• The southbound M-53 ramp to eastbound Chicago Road will be closed.

Beginning the Week of Monday, April 21:

I-75:

In Detroit, northbound and southbound I-75 will have the left lane closed at M-8 (Davison Freeway) from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday for bridge maintenance work.

M-10 (Lodge Freeway):

In Oakland County, the 10 Mile Road overpass above M-10 will be closed from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday for maintenance work. Detours will be posted, utilizing the turnaround bridge at 10 ½ Mile and Evergreen roads back to 10 Mile.

M-85 (Fort Street):

In Wayne County, the right lane of northbound M-85 will be closed at Antione Street from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily starting on Monday and ending in late May for utility work.

M-97 (Groesbeck Highway):

In Macomb County, northbound and southbound M-97, between Hayes and 14 Mile roads, will have intermittent single-lane closures from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily starting Monday and ending Sunday, April 27, for traffic signal work.

M-85 (Fort Street):

In Detroit, northbound M-85 will have the right lane closed at Antione Street from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily starting Monday and ending in late May for utility work.
