ROYAL OAK TWP (WWJ) – Some local senior citizens were forced out of their building because of a fire on Saturday.

The incident happened at the Royal Oak Senior Towers on Wyoming Street, in Royal Oak Township.

Michigan State Police helped people out of the building. The fire was out within an hour and most residents were able to return to their apartments, except for those living on the third floor.

None of the seniors were hurt, but a State Trooper was treated and released at the hospital for smoke inhalation. The cause is still under investigation.
