Police: Body Of Newborn Baby Found In Shallow Grave

CLAY TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP/WWJ) – Police say the body of a newborn has been found in a shallow grave in St. Clair County by a person doing yard work.

According to Clay Township police Chief Don Drake,  the remains of the infant were found about 6:30 p.m. Sunday in the 9300 block of Stone Road.

“This is obviously very disturbing to us,” Drake told the Times Herald of Port Huron.

Drake says the body has been sent to the medical examiner’s office.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the police department at 810-794-9381 and ask for Chief Drake or Lt. Michael Koach.

Clay Township is located about 35 miles northeast of Detroit.
